Financial Well-Being: Goal-Setting
Recommended for ages 14-16

Identify what it takes to become financially independent by setting S.M.A.R.T.E.R. goals, creating a written financial plan, and distinguishing between needs and wants. Explore how investing in your own personal human capital can increase the likelihood of career success. Working in teams, participants will develop a creative presentation synthesizing their knowledge of the targeted financial and goal-setting concepts and skills.

To create the optimal experience, each session is limited to 100 participants.

Nancy Cassella
Western Region Financial Wellness Educator @SEFCU
Nancy Cassella, Western Region Financial Wellness Educator, joined SEFCU as a financial educator in 2011. Cassella, who grew up in Syracuse, holds a bachelor’s degree in vocational teacher preparation in business and marketing from the State University of New York at Oswego. She has strong connections to the Syracuse, Binghamton, and Buffalo regions where she has provided financial education for many years. Her passion is to provide youth with the tools and skills they need to become financially responsible adults and to promote life-long learning.
Jenelle L. Davis
Eastern Region Financial Wellness Educator @SEFCU
Jenelle L. Davis, Eastern Region Financial Wellness Educator, began her SEFCU career in 2013 as a Member Specialist in Syracuse. Davis holds a bachelor’s in business information systems from Messiah College in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Before joining the Institute, Davis spent much of her time in Albany working in various Capital Region branches, where she was able to network and coach people of diverse backgrounds in financial education. Davis brings enthusiasm and passion to her role, with a desire to positively influence lives through solid financial education.
Sarah J. Trela
Financial Well-Being Administrator @SEFCU
Sarah Trela, Financial Well-Being Administrator, began her SEFCU career in 2010 as a Member Service Manager, overseeing staff and operations at various branch locations. Trela holds an MBA in information technology management from the University at Albany, State University of New York. Trela has a strong work history in the area of administration and workforce development. Trela is the Institute’s go-to contact for all financial education requests throughout the state.
